Years ago, as a Holy Ghost filled backslider I knew Truth, I knew Jesus, but he didn't know me, not any more. I'd walked away years previous and never planned on going back. One thing led to another, years past, and I'd firmly put a great void between myself and Him. Regardless, in an instant, a moment of much needed weakness, God met me where I stood and I made a decision to give myself wholy unto God again. With my hands outstretched in surrender, the Savior of the world reached out through the chasm to take my hands in his.
Even more years have passed, and I'm still trying to understand what it means to be Christ-like, but I'm getting closer. Tonight, while studying for a Bible Study that I'm teaching, making notes, and diligently seeking after God, He unexpectedly met me again. Tears swept over me as I felt a deep calling from my savior and recommitted myself to Him all over again.
Now the only distance is the gap between where I stand and where He's leading me too. Each step is a step forward.
Maybe your a Holy Ghost filled backslider, maybe your a saint, or maybe you just need to feel the grace of God again, perhaps for the first time in your life. Reach out to Him, first with your hands, then with your voice, and especially with your heart. If you're sincere, no matter the distance, he will meet you where you are and He will bridge the gap.
